Queer Sarajevo Festival

We are here to finally discover the meaning of 'queer' and all those 'LGBTTIQ' letters through films, exhibitions, performances and roundtables. You will see, hear and participate in the life stories of lesbians, gays, trans, intersex and queer persons, full of tears, laughter, hope, love, friendship, struggle, fears, victories and pride.

Queer Sarajevo Festival represents an open and safe space, based on principles of self-definition, self-identification, individuality and freedom of choice. It is our desire to make visible the link between different aspects of violence and discrimination, and the potential and need of the queer movement

in order to change such a situation with the goal of achieving and respecting human rights for all.

The idea of Queer Sarajevo Festival was born in 2006. We started implementing the idea a year later with our partners, but now the Festival symbolically represents the sixth year of the Organization Q's existence. Queer Sarajevo Festival is a multimedia, five-day event intended to disrupt, redefine, transgress, fulfill and affirm sex, gender, sexual orientation, sexual identities, gender identities, gender expression, and all other concepts the meaning of which is assumed and accepted as absolute truth. The Festival in itself challenges and questions heteronormative and patriarchal values, particularly those centered around the issues of identity, sexuality and human rights.
